Hydraulic Claw - Stage 1
Cost: $30 per student (Min. 15)
Time: 2-3 Hours
Hydraulics has a long history, dating back to Leonardo da Vinci when he made sketches of simple pump systems in his notebooks. More modern hydraulics use the same basic system, pushing liquids through pipes to create power.
In these workshops, children will learn some of the history of hydraulics and the mechanisms and machines where we use them in our everyday life. With a combination of instruction and free experimentation, children will be encouraged to develop their own designs using lever and hydraulic systems.
How do we use hydraulics to lift, swing and grab? Using wooden kits, children will learn the fundamentals then get to work on their own designs.
